St. Augustine’s first medical marijuana dispensary is cleared to open on U.S. 1, with some stipulations.
On Tuesday, city Planning and Zoning Board members unanimously approved a use by exception to allow Trulieve to open a medical marijuana store at the strip mall at 2303 N. Ponce de Leon Boulevard.
Details on the lease are still being worked out.
Victoria Walker, who provided the presentation to the board for Trulieve, said officials don’t know when the shop will open.
If everything goes as planned, the store will be open every day of the week as per state law, Walker said. Only people registered to receive medical marijuana will be able to go past the lobby and see the marijuana products. A security guard will be on site during business hours, and the property will be monitored by security cameras.
As one of the authorized dispensing organizations, Trulieve has 15 dispensaries in the state and also makes deliveries to people at home throughout the state, Walker said. The business grows marijuana only at a facility in Quincy, she said.
