BUSTED: Storage Unit Burglar Caught In Dramatic Fashion
A recent post in St. Augustine Rant & Rave was the start of a huge story in the area this week. James Canelos posted his story of a burglar stealing items from his storage unit at 312 Storage on Lakeside Ave.
Cut to this morning...
SJSO: A 27-year old man was arrested for numerous charges after he attempted to flee from deputies this (Friday) morning. The suspect, identified as Clay Jordan Neville, 27, American Fork, Utah, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving damage to property, fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, felony criminal mischief, driving on a suspended license and resisting arrest without violence. He was booked into the County Jail on bonds totaling $9,000.
Deputies who were investigating multiple burglaries at a Lakeside Ave. storage unit, learned that a subject wanted in connection with those burglaries, was returning to the storage property at 9:00 a.m. The subject, who also has an outstanding warrant out of Utah, was on the property driving a rental van. When the deputies approached the vehicle, the driver put the van in reverse and attempted to flee. As deputies ran after the suspect, he drove down an aisle and then crashed into several units before fleeing on foot. He was located a short time later nearby and taken into custody without further incident.
Neville is also a suspect in at least two burglaries to other storage units at that same location last month as the investigation continues.
