PRESS RELEASE - Major Crimes Detectives are seeking the identity of this man regarding a recent shooting into an occupied dwelling. On Monday, April 29, 2019 shots were fired into an occupied residence, including several children, on Schiedel Way. Early the next morning, this subject boldly strolled through the apartment complex while openly brandishing a handgun, visible to residents. Deputies responded to investigate and discovered video captured the male brazenly walking through the complex with a firearm, as reported.
A review of security video from the complex revealed this individual placed the firearm into a vehicle parked at the apartment complex. The owner of the vehicle was located at the complex and informed of the events as it pertained to their car. The owner of the car refused to cooperate with investigators, either to confirm the identity of the person, the ongoing events at the complex, or allow a voluntary search for the alleged firearm. Subsequently, detectives obtained a search warrant and impounded the vehicle and conducted the search at the SJSO Evidence Bay.
The search warrant revealed this 9mm Glock pistol with a 33 round extended magazine concealed under the front seat. The pistol was reported stolen in Jacksonville earlier this year. Detectives believe the subject maybe from Duval or St Johns County (Gun stolen in Duval-Car Owner currently residing in Duval).
Anyone who might know the identity of this person is asked to call Detective Jon Dees with the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit at 904-209-2130 or if you would like to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477) or TIPS@SJSO.ORG.
