Final Suspect Arrested In Violent Home Invasion

[Action News] - On Friday, June 14, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office arrested Paul Derek Gambrell on charges related to a March home invasion involving a hammer attack. Gambrell is facing charges of aggrevated battery, home invasion with a firearm and intimidation or threat to a victim or witness.

Gambrell is the third suspect to be arrested in connection with the March attack. The other suspects, Jade Buck, 21, and Fransisco Valdez, 30, were arrested in April.

According to a police report, the victim paid $60 for sex with Buck, before Gambrell and Valdez were summoned to attack him. The report added that Gambrell, his girlfriend and infant met with Buck and Valdez on Cypress Road before the attack to plan the robbery.

The report further stated that Gambrell was the suspect who helped plan the robbery, provided transportation to and from the robbery, supplied the hammer used during the attack and subdued the victim during the robbery.

Gambrell was also the "direct beneficiary of the proceeds from the robbery," according to police.
