SJSO: Shortly before 8:30 this Monday morning, the St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a body floating in the Intracoastal Waterway, in the area of The Riverview Club in southern St. John’s County. St. John’s County Fire Rescue launched a vessel into the water and located the remains drifting in the waterway. St. John’s County Major Crimes Detectives are beginning the process of determining who the person is and the circumstances surrounding the discovery. At this time, the Sheriffs Office does not have any recent reports of suspicious circumstances or missing persons. Further will be released as it becomes available.
The SJSO has recovered a deceased subject who was located in the ICW early this Monday morning. The subject is described as a black female, with an age range in her late teens to late 20’s. She is further identified as being 5’7” tall and 140 lbs. The subject has a tattoo of a rose on her upper right thigh. At this time, we have received no reports of missing persons, or significant events in our area that assist in identifying this individual. If anyone has any information regarding a person who matches these descriptors, please contact the St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimea Unit. No cause or manner of death is currently known and is pending an autopsy by the Medical Examiners Office.
