St. Augustine Distillery co-founder and CEO, Philip McDaniel, was one of four honorees for the Inaugural Distilled Spirits Council of the United States Conference in Louisville this week. Wild Turkey “Buddah of Bourbon” Jimmy Russell, Sazerac Rye Whiskey Chair William Goldring, and KY Congressman Congressman John Yarmuth (KY-3) were all recognized for their contributions to the spirits industry. Philip was awarded the DISCUS Dave Pickerell Memorial Craft Member of the Year award, given to the leader in advancing the craft distiller community and supporting the association with advocacy efforts. Since opening the St. Augustine Distillery in 2014, Philip has helped lead local, state legislative and federal initiatives to grow Florida's burgeoning craft spirits industry.
