SJSO Looking For Early Morning Shooter

April 20, 2020

SHOOTING INVESTIGATION: While working along West King Street, a SW District Deputy heard several gunshots coming from a generalized area a short distance away, just after midnight, this past Sunday morning. That deputy along with several others responded into the area to identify where the shots were coming from.

While driving into the area, 9-1-1 received calls regarding two subjects who had been shot while sitting in a vehicle off of Chapin Street. When deputies arrived at the residential driveway, they found two men with gunshot wounds to their lower extremities and began immediate trauma care for their injuries. At the time, neither victim could immediately describe a shooter(s) or a vehicle description that may be involved. Fire Rescue summoned an air ambulance to transport the victims to Orange Park Medical Center, where they remain today in stable condition.

As additional deputies, along with detectives from the Major Crimes Unit arrived to canvass the area, they encountered several persons, both in cars and walking the streets, who were searching for the potential suspect(s), but had no available information regarding the identity of the shooter(s).

Major Crimes Detectives are asking anyone in the community who may have information related to this event to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277- 8477 (TIPS), where you can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward up to $5000.00, which leads to the arrest of a suspect(s). Tipsters can also download the Crime Stoppers App and submit tips through your mobile device.
