City Wants To Buy 250,000 Chinese Made Masks From Commissioner's Friend
The City of St. Augustine is considering purchasing 250,000 level one face masks from China, to supply to local residents.
“Currently the Chinese market is the only market that’s open for exports. ... So China is our primary source (of) exportation currently,” said Eric McWilliams, who works for the company that sells the masks.
McWilliams' connection to the city was made by Commissioner John Valdes, because the two are friends. Valdes is also planning on renovating McWilliams' home, according to a recent article.
Valdes recused himself from discussions on the matter.
