A St. Johns County man is being detained without bond and faces several charges —including attempted homicide — after turning himself in on Monday.
Vincent Patrick Newsome, 34, of Hastings, is accused of firing 10 shots from a rifle at a person sitting in a vehicle Friday night in St. Johns County.
The official report from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said the victim was struck in the forehead, but the shrapnel did not penetrate the skull.
The report says Newsome also struck the victim twice in the face before firing his weapon.
Newsome was identified by the victim.
Also in the police report, it is noted that Newsome previously served a 15-year sentence for armed robbery and was released about a year ago.
Newsome faces a total of five criminal charges, including: attempted homicide, criminal mischief, burglary, aggravated assault and firing a missile into a dwelling or vehicle.
