SJSO Sheriff Elect Rob Hardwick teamed up with Epic Cure over this past weekend to feed hundreds of families in need. But the efforts to end hunger in St. Johns County don't stop at just one day's work.
Epic Cure is an organization that takes food donated from grocery stores and redistributes it to people and families in need here in St. Johns County.
"Yesterday in one distribution we did over 10,000 pounds of meat, but I had to get rid of it all that day because both of our trucks are out and doing distributions today and I needed them empty. So if we had more capacity then we can allocate resources more equitably among the different distributions," said Sunny Mulford, Founder of Epic Cure.
"We're going to challenge St. Johns County... We are going to raise 75,000 for Epic Cure so they can go ahead and buy a brand new [Refrigerated] van," said Sheriff Elect Hardwick on Saturday.
Commander Beaver wasted no time in making the first $500 donation right there on site!
